What can Cain do?
Or, what has Cain already done?
Can solve a Rubik’s Cube in under 30 seconds
Average: 25s, Personal Best: ~15s.
Top 50 worldwide Rock Band drummer
It’s like Guitar Hero, but with drums. I’m top 1000 in every stat the game can track, but I’m top 50 in “Brutal Mode” where the notes disappear shortly after showing up on screen.
Fluent in Japanese
I started taking Japanese in high school because I didn’t want to take Spanish, French, Latin, or German. I fell in love with the language and culture in an instant, and now, yes, I can watch anime without the subtitles. I also was a Teacher’s Assistant for a semester in undergrad!
Pretty proficient at ping pong
Fun fact: In my Brandcenter phone interview, I said that if accepted I would win the annual student ping pong tournament. And I did. Called it. I also won intramural doubles ping pong in undergrad with my then-roommate. We wore matching outfits, and then he got injured kicking the table.
Occasional music producer
Here’s a SoundCloud link to my Top 5 songs I’ve made. They’re pretty dated, but I still like them. I keep telling myself I’ll make more sometime, but that time has not come around yet…
Ex-SoundCloud rapper
Please don’t go looking for it. I was a much better producer than rapper, and it was a few of my residents when I was an RA in undergrad and I that decided to make some incredibly weird self-deprecating music.
Qualified for the Pickleball State Games of America (2019)
Fun fact #2: My dad is a professional pickleball player, so I spent a summer playing tournaments with him and we qualified for the national games in 2019! We didn’t win because I got way too nervous, (and dad was coming off of a hip replacement…) but it was a pretty cool experience.
Astrophysics enthusiast
Don’t even get me started on the universe. I’ll talk your head off. Is it infinite? If not, what’s outside of it? Will also talk your ear off about Interstellar.
3-Starred all of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in 3 days
This has to be the most impressive thing on this list, right? I mean Mario Kart’s AI rubber banding is freaking ridiculous, especially on 200cc. But I’m basically a MK8D god, so it was easy peasy.
Can juggle three balls and do tricks
I learned to juggle for the same reason my dad did: when you play tennis and you’re just sitting around with a can of balls while not playing, what else are you supposed to do. I decided to take it to the next level and learn some behind the back throws, Mill’s Mess, the Factory, etc. Can also juggle four balls if the stars have aligned.
Scored a 5 on my AP Physics exam and a 4 on AP Calculus in high school
Yes, I’m still proud of these scores to this day, even though I can’t remember the last time I had to really do math. (Fun Fact #3: I was almost a physics major in undergrad.)
Enjoys a good craft
The tools I have to my name are practically nonexistent. However I still managed to build a power-strip housing for my mantle to hide the copious amounts of cables up there, built a “perpetual motion machine” during my first semester at Brandcenter, and used resin and Yu-Gi-Oh!/Magic The Gathering cards to create a really unique desk for my office.
Fed fish by the hundreds in Thailand
This is 100% true and there’s a video from March 6th, 2019 on Instagram of it (4th slide). They were swarming - I had never seen anything like it. Side note: Thailand is beautiful.
Can spell pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis
This one is pretty self explanatory, but again, very true. I was a speller as a kid. Not Scripp’s-worthy, but I was the first non-5th grader to win my elementary school spelling bee.
Placed in the top 150 teams in the 2021 North American Rocket League Olympics
That may have been the result of 1 loss followed by 4 consecutive forfeits followed by a 0-10 thrashing, but wins are wins.
Adobe Creative Cloud understander
Here’s a gallery of stuff, some of which I did in the Adobe Suite. See, I’m more than just a writer.
